curiously pretty slow I never had this before No idea if the burning process was responsible for that But anyway let us talk about the real problem I opened Adium to check if a friend is online But instead of getting my contact list a password dialog was shown Damn what s that Most of my passwords are stored within Keychain Why I have to enter a password now Afraid of the thing happened I started the Keychain application and I was taken my breath away No password certificate or notes were visible All entries were completely gone The only thing I saw was a bright and white background But that s not what I wanted to see I was ebbed between waiting to finish the burning process or executing a restart immediately Finally I decided to wait because there is no reason why it should getting worse While the burning process wasn t finished I restarted Keychain but without luck It seems that all my stored sensitive data was lost But stop Let s run a restart first After taken the DVD out of my drive I did a restart All the while I hold my fingers crossed Please please please give me back my data In such situations a restart takes a really long time I entered my password and opened Keychain after my profile was loaded The applications window was shown and what I saw made me really really happy All the entries were visible again and saved me from hacking them in again I still have no idea what s happened here and why they are back again But I m glad to have them back and I m still interested for an explanation Anyone of you who had a similar experience What was your result

  • No shortcut to open contextual menus on OS X? | hskupin.info
menu for example Firefox has things like open frame in new tab but they should at least be so obscure that nobody would ever actually need them Reply Samuel Sidler View November 15 2007 The key command is ctrl 5 on the numeric pad To use it you have to turn on Mouse Keys in the Universal Access Mouse Trackpad preference pain This allows you to navigate the mouse pointer with the numeric pad 5 is left click and ctrl click is the standard operator for getting the context menu Reply David Naylor View November 15 2007 I still haven t understood how to open app menus using the keyboard in OS X Is it possible Reply kourge View November 15 2007 Yeah as Screwtape said Apple s position is that the context menu shouldn t be necessary to complete a task i e you can still access the features it provides through other means Reply Samuel Sidler View November 15 2007 Opening app menus is easy ctrl F2 If you use a laptop you might have to hold down the fn button depending on what settings you have The key command for that and just about everything is changeable in the Keyboard Mouse system preference pane under the Keyboard Shortcuts tab Note to do this you must have Full Keyboard Access on a setting that is also available from the same pane and tab Reply Jesse Ruderman View November 15 2007 Since Firefox has chosen to put things in context menus that aren t also in main menus which IMO is perfectly reasonable shouldn t Firefox also provide a shortcut for opening the context menu Early versions of Mozilla used Ctrl Space but Firefox doesn t have to use the same shortcut Reply Henrik Skupin View November 18 2007 Thank you all for the comments I read again the HIG from Apple and like it was already stated by Screwtape contextual menus should only display item specific shortcuts which are already included in the menu bar But as Jesse told Firefox don t follow this spec The simplest fix would be to get crtl space to work again because it was broken while changing to Cocoa widgets Let s try to get it back Ongoing work is handled in bug 357540 Samuel I can t get the keyboard navigation to work Your specified steps are curiously not available in my German version Reply Gae View January 22 2008 yep i agree it s a frustrating thing And I am also embarassed for those apple funs that as soon as you point out a lack or a missing feature in their favourite system they try to convince you that it is because of apple weltanshaung so silly Anyway i had the same problem after searching around i found out that there is a way to have contextual menu on keyboard but only enabling the whole Universal Access stuff for Mouse Trackpad After enabling it you can use some keys to

you had to wait longer until the currently selected tab has been finished loading From now on the current tab has the highest priority followed by visible tabs in the same window and tabs in underlying windows As tests have been shown this feature works very well in Firefox 3 6 More improvements will come with the next version Crashkill To lower the number of crashes for Firefox the Crashkill project has been initiated a while back In the last quarter I was able to work on a couple of those bugs Thanks goes to Chris Hofmann who showed me a couple of nifty tricks and tools regarding crash analysis Mozmill As the lead of the Mozmill test automation process I had to put focus on Firefox 3 6 So all manual tests from the Smoketest and BFT testgroup which have been already automated can be used to run automated functional tests against Firefox 3 6 The same applies to the automated software update tests which make sure that update paths are working as expected As seen for the previous 3 6 beta and 3 5 x security releases all those tests are very helpful and give time for QA to focus testing on more important areas Finally I can say that I m feeling great with Firefox 3 6 as my daily companion but also looking forward to any upcoming work which has to be done for the next major version of Firefox firefox Mozilla mozmill Personal Software work Photography Photo challenge please vote for us October 16 2009 Henrik Skupin Leave a comment Some weeks ago a friend of mine pointed me to an upcoming photo challenge about image manipulation created It has been initiated by the biggest German computer magazine c t My first thought was to attend this challenge but I recognized that I don t have any great images on my box and no time to work on that But surprisingly a friend was visiting me over those days and we had some great shots in the Saxon Switzerland Given those pictures Silvia made a fake image in parallel without knowing about this challenge Once I had seen the result I pushed here to subscribe to the challenge After some talks and further processing steps of the image we have decided to take the challenge just for fun About 3 weeks ago the first results have been posted to the online gallery and a public survey has been started 139 of the best pictures can be voted by everyone and our faked image is in this list too Here a former version and not the final one on my Flickr account Surprisingly a former colleague and a friend of mine informed me today that we have made it to even show up on spiegel de Woot there are only 13 images posted So isn t it a call that we have good chances Please help us and vote for our image when you like it
