  • Ecosystem responses to climate change from the Arctic to the Amazon: New understanding and future challenges from experimental field-scale manipulations — ALTER-Net: Europe's ecosystem research network
    and soil carbon sequestration and biosphere atmosphere feedbacks and will affect species competition and biodiversity and ultimately lead to species extinction Experiments with climate factors have provided not only important understanding of the responses of biological processes and ecosystem functioning to these climatic changes but also a more general understanding of ecosystem structure and functioning and the links to the primary controls of these Such understanding is fundamental if we are to explore possible futures and mitigate and adapt to climate change This workshop part of the INTECOL 2013 conference aims to provide a present state of understanding of ecosystem responses to atmospheric and climatic changes based on two decades of climate change experiments and to outline and discuss the needs and directions for future experiments and ecosystem modeling The provisional date and time is Tuesday 20 August from 10 15 12 15 plus from 15 30 17 30 However the organisers are still awaiting a final confirmation of this Potentially it could be moved to one of the other days of the conference 19 23 August The organisers have one or two open slots for oral presentations plus a poster session about 30 40 poster stands should be available Therefore please do not hesitate to put together an abstract max 500 words for the main text and send it to Klaus Steenberg Larsen by e mail klas kt dtu dk no later than 15 May 2013 if you want to present your work In your e mail please state if you would prefer an oral or a poster presentation If you want to participate in the workshop without a presentation please also inform Klaus Steenberg Larsen so that he can keep track of who is attending Please also remember to register for INTECOL 2013 Do this via the homepage
